From wildlife to blue-flag beaches, exotic caves to rich cultural experiences and a visit to the beautiful and awe-inspiring Victoria Falls.

This tour will give you an overview of the finest highlights the southern tip of Africa has to offer. It incorporates game viewing, scenic beauty, the diversity that is South Africa, its history and culture as well as the world famous Victoria Falls.

Daily flights link Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth and George, with connecting flights to the game areas and
Kruger National Park.

South Africa
is renowned for its excellent road network making it an ideal country in which to self-drive or take a chauffeur-drive. Car rental facilities are available at all the major airports and towns and the cars are of an extremely high standard.

Perhaps the best way of seeing this large country is by combining air, road and train travel.  Let us take you on our suggested ‘grand tour’.

Day 1

On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, South Africa's biggest city and gateway to all the major tourist centres of South Africa, you are met and transferred to one of the recommended hotels or guesthouses in the heart of Sandton.

2 nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2

Day tour of Johannesburg and Soweto.

Day 3

Depart for Mpumalanga. Whichever travel option you choose, stay at one of the small country hotels or guest houses from which to explore panoramic Mpumalanga.

2 nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 4

Visit God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Blyde River Canyon and the historical village of Pilgrims Rest.

Day 5

Travel to one of the private game lodges. South Africa is renowned for its private game reserves bordering the Kruger National Park. All lodges offer accommodation on a full board basis including game activities. Game drives are in open vehicles under the safe, expert guidance of a game ranger aided by a professional tracker.

Day 6

Game viewing activities as per the lodge.

Day 7

Transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport and fly to Durban. With its sub-tropical climate it is never out of season in Durban. Miles of beaches, fishing piers and amusement parks attract thousands of visitors every year.

2 nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 8

Full day Zulu cultural tour to the Valley of a Thousand Hills.

Day 9

Depart Durban and fly to Port Elizabeth. Port Elizabeth is serviced daily by flights from all over South Africa and is the official starting point of the Garden Route, one of the most scenic areas of South Africa.

1 nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 10

From Port Elizabeth, meander along via Jeffreys Bay, Tsitsikamma Forest and over the Bloukrans and Groot Rivier Pass to Plettenberg Bay. Through the Garden of Eden to Knysna, with its magnificent lagoon. Accommodation is in one of the recommended hotels or guesthouses along this coastline.

3 nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 11 & 12

Sightseeing around this interesting, diverse Garden Route. The village of Plettenberg Bay looks down upon a bay that is often visited by schools of dolphins, while Oudtshoorn offers Ostrich show farms, the Cango Caves and other attractions.

Day 13

Daily flights from George to all parts of South Africa are available.

On arrival in Cape Town, you are met and transferred to one of the recommended hotels or guest houses.  Cape Town is a city so rich in natural scenic splendour, that it is a never ending source of wonder and fascination.  Voted the top city to see before you die, Cape Town certainly ranks as one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

4 nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 14

Morning tour of the "Mother City" and Table Mountain (weather permitting).

Day 15

Full day Cape Peninsula tour along one of South Africa's most scenic routes.  Enjoy the dramatic views from Chapman's Peak Drive before reaching Cape Point where (by tradition) two marine ecosystems and oceans meet.

Day 16

Full day Winelands tour. Indulge in the fruits of the ample vineyards set in picturesque, fertile valleys with dramatic mountain backdrops. Explore the history, architecture and culinary delights that this area has to offer.  

Day 17

Transfer to Cape Town Station.

A perfect way to start or finish your holiday in South Africa is a trip aboard the Blue Train. Experience the ultimate in luxury travel. Enjoy the quiet atmosphere, efficient service and gourmet meals while the South African landscape glides gently past your window.

Day 18

On arrival at Pretoria Station you are met and transferred to one of the recommended hotels or guest houses.

Day 19

Transfer to Johannesburg International Airport and fly to Victoria Falls. One of the seven natural wonders of the world, a trip to Southern Africa is not complete without a visit to Victoria Falls. The Falls, considered to be the most spectacular cascades in the world, plunges over 100 metres into an enormous chasm sending up great clouds of spray. The African name "Mosi-oa-Tunya "best describes this natural phenomenon as "the Smoke that Thunders".

Regular flights connect South Africa, Botswana and Namibia with daily flights to Victoria Falls. Road transfers to Chobe National Park, Botswana, and Victoria Falls town, Zimbabwe are available. A side trip to Chobe National Park is highly recommended.

Day 20

Morning tour of the Falls.

Zambezi Sundowner Cruise -  The boat departs in the early evening and meanders down the mighty Zambezi River.  Sip a cocktail and watch as the African sun sets and the day draws to a close.

Day 21

Depart Livingstone for your return flight to Johannesburg and onward international flight.
